Elderberry Raspberry Collins (The Garnish Club Edition)
This recipe blends the floral, slightly woodsy notes of elderberry with the tart sweetness of raspberry, grounded by botanical gin.
Ingredients
| Component | Quantity | Notes |
| Gin | 60 ml / 2 oz | A London Dry or a floral/citrus-forward gin works best. |
| Elderberry Juice | 20 ml / 0.75 oz | Adds depth and a darker color. Use a pure juice or concentrate. |
| Fresh Raspberry Juice | 20 ml / 0.75 oz | Use fresh-pressed or high-quality puree, strained to remove seeds. |
| Fresh Lemon Juice | 20 ml / 0.75 oz | Essential for balance and tartness. |
| Simple Syrup (1:1 ratio) | 10 ml / 0.25 oz | Adjust to taste based on the tartness of your juices. |
| Soda Water | Top | About 60-90 ml / 2-3 oz. |
| The Garnish Club Garnish | 1 slice + optional small pieces | See suggestions below for a premium finish. |
The Garnish Club Suggestions
To perfectly complement the pink/purple hue and botanical flavors, The Garnish Club offers excellent dehydrated choices:
- Dehydrated Lemon Slice: The classic Collins garnish, it provides a bright citrus aroma and a nice contrast in color.
- Dehydrated Lime Slice: Slightly less traditional, but the lime’s aroma works wonderfully with gin and berries.
- Dehydrated Red Dragon Fruit Slice (Pitaya): A visually stunning choice! Its deep pink color will echo the raspberry beautifully and add exotic flair.
- Optional Rim/Dust: Crush some of their Freeze-Dried Raspberries (if available) and use the powder to rim the glass or dust over the finished drink for an intense raspberry aroma.
Method
- Chill Your Glass: Use a Collins glass (tall and narrow) or a Highball glass. Fill it with ice to chill while you mix the cocktail.
- Combine Ingredients: In a cocktail shaker, add the Gin, Elderberry Juice, Raspberry Juice, Lemon Juice, and Simple Syrup.
- Shake: Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until the shaker is well-chilled. This ensures all the juices and syrup are thoroughly mixed and chilled.
- Strain: Empty the chilled Collins glass of its ice. Fill it with fresh, large ice cubes. Double strain the cocktail mixture into the glass.
- Top: Top the drink with chilled Soda Water (or Club Soda).
- Garnish: Place your chosen The Garnish Club dehydrated slice (e.g., Lemon or Red Dragon Fruit) onto the rim or directly into the drink. If you have the freeze-dried raspberry powder, sprinkle a small amount over the top of the cocktail for an enhanced aroma.
- Serve: Present with a straw, if desired, and enjoy!
