The Elderberry & Lime “Hugo”: A British Twist
This delightful Hugo recipe gets a proper refresh with the gentle sweetness of elderberry, brightened by zesty lime. It’s an effervescent, floral, and wonderfully refreshing spritz, perfect for a sunny afternoon or as an elegant aperitif. We’re elevating this classic with The Garnish Club dehydrated lime and lemon wheels, which not only look absolutely splendid but also infuse a concentrated burst of citrus aroma as you sip.
Ingredients
- Elderberry Juice (or Elderflower Cordial): 45ml. Use a good quality, pure elderberry juice for depth, or elderflower cordial for a sweeter, more traditional Hugo flavour.)
- Fresh Lime Juice: 15ml. Only freshly squeezed will do for that proper zing!)
- Chilled Prosecco: 120ml. A crisp, dry Prosecco is best to let the other flavours shine.)
- Chilled Soda Water (or Sparkling Water): Top up as needed (Unflavoured, please, we don’t want to muddle the flavours.)
- Ice Cubes: Fill your glass generously.
Garnish
- The Garnish Club Dehydrated Lime Wheel: 1 piece
- The Garnish Club Dehydrated Lemon Wheel: 1 piece
Instructions
- Glass First: Grab a generous wine glass or a sturdy highball. Fill it right up with ice cubes.
- Foundation Flavours: Pour the elderberry juice (or elderflower cordial) and the fresh lime juice straight over the ice.
- A Gentle Stir: Give the contents a very quick, gentle stir to combine those initial liquids. We’re not trying to churn butter, just mix.
- The Bubbly Bit: Slowly, and with a bit of care, add the chilled Prosecco to the glass.
- Top Up: Finish it off with a dash of chilled soda water to your liking.
- Final Flourish: Give it one last, ever-so-light stir with a spoon to blend everything without losing that precious fizz.
- Garnish Glamour: Now for the showstopper! Place The Garnish Club Dehydrated Lime Wheel and The Garnish Club Dehydrated Lemon Wheel artfully into the drink, or perch them elegantly on the rim. They’ll look fantastic and add a lovely aroma.
